Full or Part-Time Employment: Lake Champlain Boat Launch Stewards The Lake Champlain Basin Program and New England Interstate Water Pollution Control Commission (NEIWPCC) are seeking part-time boat launch stewards to deliver interpretive invasive species spread prevention messages to boaters on Lake Champlain during summer, 2008. Boat Launch Stewards will interact with the public and gather lake-user information, greeting visitors to Lake Champlain and familiarizing the public with invasive species information. Stewards will be requested to work eight hour days for twenty-four hours a week at select boat launches around Lake Champlain from Memorial Day to Labor Day weekend. Stewards will be required to work one day of each weekend. One or two weeks off by prior arrangement can be accommodated during this period. Required training May 19th and 20th in Paul Smiths, New York and Grand Isle, Vermont. The successful candidate will be well organized and have experience speaking with the public and Microsoft Excel. Basic familiarity with boaters and anglers will be helpful. Highly motivated individuals having familiarity with invasive species and/or water recreation experience are encouraged to apply. Work with more than 2,000 live animals and a lot of fun people! Share your love of Lake Champlain with others at the LCBP's Resource Room at ECHO. ECHO is located on Burlington's waterfront and our room has a terrific view of the Lake. Volunteers are needed to help cover 1 or 2 shifts/month. Possible for-credit internships may be arranged. A willingness to learn more about the Lake and work with children and adults is necessary.
